April 2012 Highlights « Back
PrintEmail FriendViktor, the Minnesota Vikings mascot, made his way to North Dakota earlier this month for two exciting events. He gave an energetic presentation called “Fuel Up to Play 60 with Viktor” at Cheney Middle School in West Fargo, inspiring more than 500 students to eat healthy and be active. The following day Viktor headed to Valley City to help commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the North Dakota Winter Show and celebrate Midwest Dairy Day there. Viktor helped the Midwest Dairy District 5 dairy producers and helpers promote their famous milk shakes and took time to meet and greet people at the booth.
During the past school year there have been exceptional adult leaders in the North Dakota schools that have helped their student teams be successful with the Fuel Up to Play 60 activities. So it goes without saying that the selection process for picking a Program Advisor of the Year was difficult. The award this year went to a ‘team’ of program advisors from Valley City Jr./Sr. High School. Beth Beckers, Sue Milender and Trevor Bakalar have supported their student team in developing a Smoothie Friday where the students make and sell smoothies for breakfast at the High School. They have started a walking club where students are aiming toward walking 10,000 steps a day and the trio has encouraged school administration to include Fuel Up to Play 60 as its premier program to help meet its wellness policy. Congratulations and thank you to these important adults!
