Ashley’s role is to serve as a liaison to health professionals, and she is responsible for television, print and radio interviews in Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. As a registered and licensed dietitian, she provides accurate, scientific and practical information on the benefits of dairy nutrition. Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark., and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She is a member of the American and Arkansas Dietetic Associations. Previously, Ashley worked for Arkansas Health Center as a clinical dietitian. Before this, she worked with schools and communities to promote nutrition and physical activity as a community health promotion specialist for the state of Arkansas. Ashley enjoys spending time with her family of five in the great outdoors by competing at horse shows, hunting, hiking, camping and rock climbing. Welcome to Ashley!
Midwest Dairy Association and Dairy Max will be joint sponsors for the Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner’s conference and luncheon on October 20 in Midwest City. Nurses are frequently the first to deliver nutrition education to patients and are often the leading health advocate in the school setting. It is imperative that we provide the nursing community with accurate dairy information so they can educate their patients and students appropriately. We will sponsor a milk taste-test including chocolate milk and lactose-free milk and then provide participants information about the reformulation of milk for schools and the use of milk to refuel following exercise.
We’ll also reach out to the state’s dietitians, nutrition professionals who view the Dairy Council as the experts on dairy nutrition. Midwest Dairy Association and Dairy Max jointly sponsor the 2011 Oklahoma Dietetics Association Fall Symposium on October 21 in Oklahoma City to provide the latest research on flavored milk and Fuel Up to Play 60.
