La’Roi Glover of the NFL Alumni Association, Midwest Dairy Council and Rogers Middle School Salute Missouri’s Fuel Up to Play 60 Program Advisor of the Year!

Kathy Beezley, RN, the School Nurse at Rogers Middle School in St. Louis, has been named Missouri’s Program Advisor of the Year. Beezley is part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, taking an active role in encouraging students to eat healthy, get active and make a difference.

Rams Kicker Josh Brown Joins Registered Dietitians at Annual Conference

St. Louis Rams kicker Josh Brown will team up with the Midwest Dairy Council for a Fuel Up to Play 60 activity break at the Missouri Dietetic Association Annual Conference on Thursday, April 19 from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, 1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Brown's visit brings Fuel Up to Play 60 program awareness to 150 registered dietitians in attendance at the conference.

Local Dairy Farmers Fight Hunger in Missouri

Dairy farmers of Missouri will collect canned food items from fair-goers in exchange for discounted tickets at the gates of the Missouri State Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 16, to aid in the fight against hunger in the state.

May 2012 Highlights

Midwest Dairy's work with the St. Louis Rams earned a "People's Choice" award at a national Fuel Up to Play 60 Forum recently. We were singled out for the individual Rams player cards containing the customized Rams Fuel Up to Play 60 logo, which were distributed to children by Rams players during their appearances.

April 2012 Highlights

The Dairy Optimization project to sell individually wrapped cheese at Lee’s Summit School District has been extended to a third high school in the district. Funds will be used to purchase a counter-top cooler, display crates and special signage. The program has already been a success in two high school buildings in the district, selling a combined total of nearly 3,000 units of cheese since the program’s start in December of 2011.

March 2012 Highlights

Four Missouri schools were among those awarded funds for Fuel Up to Play 60 efforts in the most recent round of funding, mentioned earlier in this newsletter.
