Midwest Dairy Awards South Dakota State Scholarships

Four students have been selected to receive scholarships from Midwest Dairy Association’s South Dakota Division. They were among those honored during the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Dairy Science Department scholarship banquet on April 2 in Brookings.

57th South Dakota Dairy Princess is Crowned

Olivia Siglin, Webster, is South Dakota’s 57th State Dairy Princess. She was crowned tonight (Wed., March 28) in Sioux Falls during the Central Plains Dairy Expo.

Six Vie for 57th South Dakota Dairy Princess

South Dakota’s 57th State Dairy Princess will be crowned in Sioux Falls the evening of Wednesday, March 28. Six candidates are seeking the current title to replace Natalie Thyen, Waverly, who has served the dairy industry for the past year.

May 2012 Highlights

The Midwest Dairy South Dakota Division elected its leadership during the Annual Meeting earlier this month.

April 2012 Highlights

Chris West, a physical education teacher from Sturgis Elementary, has been selected as South Dakota Fuel Up to Play 60 2012 Program Advisor of the Year. Chris has participated in Fuel Up to Play 60 for two years, incorporating the program into the school day by working with the Student Council and staff.

March 2012 Highlights

There are now 320 schools in South Dakota engaged with Fuel Up to Play 60. As noted in the article above, funding has just been awarded to a number of schools across the Midwest, including Robert Frost Elementary School in Sioux Falls. Check in on fueluptoplay60.com to see if your school is enrolled, and if so, encourage them to apply for the next round of Midwest Dairy funding.

South Dakota Dairy Princess

The South Dakota Dairy Princess has served as the state's official goodwill ambassador for the dairy industry for 55 years. The dairy princess typically makes appearances at consumer events, provides media interviews and helps to inform people about dairy farmers' dedication to their work, as well as communicating the importance of dairy products in our diet.
