February 2012 Highlights
Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, plus all of the Iowa heads of state, were on hand to support Fuel Up to Play 60 at an event last week at Capitol View Elementary School in Des Moines. Lots of pieces came together -- from fourth grade student speaker Walter Amaya talking about what it means to be healthy to former Kansas City Chiefs player Eddie Kennison inspiring the kids and leading them in some stretches.
December 2011 Highlights
The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians board of directors has signed on to support the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. More than 100 family physicians attended the group's annual meeting, stopping by the Midwest Dairy Council booth to fill out a Fuel Up to Play 60 survey for a chance to win a signed NFL jersey.
September 2011 Highlights
Your new Health and Wellness Program Advisor in Iowa, Chris Freland, hit the ground running in the past month, presenting Fuel Up to Play 60 programming to many key school districts. Her contacts include district-wide PE departments, school nurses, superintendents and principals who all play a role in shaping the health of young people.
