Butter Sculpting goes Live in Dairy Building at Fair
The butter cow has been a tradition at the Illinois State Fair since 1922, and in recent years, sculptor Sharon BuMann has been carving the exhibit so that it’s ready to unveil before the fair opens. Before the Illinois State Fair even opens its doors, the Dairy Building is in full preparation mode. The Illinois School Nutrition Association board has pledged its support to the guiding principles of Fuel Up to Play 60, to help end childhood obesity within a generation, which includes empowering youth to take action to develop pathways to better fitness and nutrition for life.
September 2011 Highlights
Our contract with the St. Louis Rams has been approved for the next two seasons. The Rams are our NFL partner on Fuel Up to Play 60, and the contract includes the use of player Chris Long. He’ll be available for a photo shoot and for school assemblies.
July 2011 Highlights
In Elgin U-46 schools, the school nutrition director has outlined a wellness program for 53 schools and more than 41,000 students, and Fuel Up to Play 60 is part of that plan. A contest between the district schools is judged by the food service manager completing a binder that documents the promotions and activities carried out by the staff at each school.
