67th North Dakota Dairy Princess Contestants Sought

Midwest Dairy Association’s North Dakota Division is seeking candidates for its 67th annual North Dakota Dairy Princess contest. The event is scheduled June 9 and 10, 2013, during the organization’s board meeting at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck.

Midwest Dairy Meetings Scheduled with NDSU Dairy Cow College

Midwest Dairy Association has scheduled its North Dakota Division District Meetings in conjunction with North Dakota State University Extension’s annual Dairy Cow College sessions at five locations across the state.

Fair Visitors Offered Personal Barn Tour

It’s easy to enjoy a walk through the dairy barn at the North Dakota State Fair, but if you’d like to make sure your questions about the cows are answered, Dairy Princess Marissa Leier will be on hand as your tour guide.

February 2013 Highlights

"From Farm to Food To You – the Journey of Milk" was the focus of Midwest Dairy’s booth at the Living Ag Classroom in Minot and Bismarck this past month. More than 2,000 fourth grade students attended the events to learn more about where their food comes from, and the pride and dedication of farmers and ranchers who make it happen.

January 2013 Highlights

Valley City Jr./Sr. High School won the grand prize in North Dakota for the Super Bowl Breakfast Challenge of Fuel Up to Play 60! By submitting an idea on how to promote oatmeal and, of course dairy, for breakfast, they won a Fuel Up to Play 60 cafeteria table and booth for their school.

November 2012 Highlights

Midwest Dairy has awarded more than $15,000 in Fuel Up to Play 60 funding to five North Dakota schools to help them develop and implement projects to encourage healthy eating and physical activity.

North Dakota Dairy Princess

The North Dakota Dairy Princess program is the longest-running one in the United States, initiated in 1946. The princess, who serves as a goodwill ambassador for the state's dairy farmers, makes media appearances, talks with children about being healthy through consuming dairy products every day, and visits with consumers in various settings.
