Iowa Highlights

Midwest Dairy Council was invited to showcase dairy as part of the January MyPlate lunch for Iowa's Healthiest State Initiative Day on the Hill, held at the state capitol. The event drew in more than 400 state legislators and state employees, including the governor and lieutenant governor, to build their MyPlate lunch featuring our infamous Salad on a Stick, yogurt and fruit parfaits, and of course white and chocolate milk to drink.

The Iowa Department of Public Health has published the results of the Iowa School Breakfast Challenge and, through its newsletter, encouraged its educators to reach out to school nutrition departments to support school breakfast.

Midwest Dairy Council sponsored the 2012 Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic Association's Annual conference earlier this month, with a focus on sustainability and local food.
