Illinois will “Come Together” during the State Fair in Springfield Aug. 8-18, so the state’s dairy farmers plan to do the same – and help the hungry while doing so. For every glass of milk sold at the Illinois State Fair Dairy Building, they’ll be matching that purchase with a purchase of milk for a local food bank.

It may be hard to believe, but it is already that time of year when families start to say goodbye to summer and hello to the new school year. In preparation, attention shifts toward to-do lists filled with tasks such as buying school supplies, going clothes shopping and getting sports physicals. What may not be on the list yet is making breakfast a priority.
Eighteen Students Selected to Lead Healthy Changes in Their Schools, States and Throughout the Country for Fuel Up to Play 60

Eighteen students from across the Midwest have been selected to serve as National and State Ambassadors for Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program created in partnership with Midwest Dairy Council and the NFL, in collaboration with USDA. Fuel Up to Play 60 encourages students to eat healthy, be active and make positive, healthy changes in their schools and communities.

The Dairy Research Institute®, established under the leadership of America’s dairy farmers, announced the winners of its second annual New Product Competition. This year’s competition challenged undergraduate and graduate student teams to develop a new dairy-based product for the morning meal occasion.

The Midwest Dairy Council and the Minnesota Vikings are proud to partner with Coborn’s, Inc. on a new grant program supporting Fuel Up to Play 60. Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program created by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, encourages students to eat healthy, get active and make a difference in their schools and communities.
