Healthy Students Are Better Students: New Report Illustrates The Wellness Impact of Nutrition and Physical Activity on Improving Academic Achievement

As schools prepare for standardized testing this spring, school leaders, teachers and parents are focused on ensuring students are prepared to do their best. However, research shows that regular access to better nutrition - starting with breakfast - coupled with increased opportunities for physical activity may help students reach their potential throughout the school year, which may lead to better performance at testing time and beyond.

Across Minnesota, counties are currently seeking dairy princess candidates and in many parts of the state, that means applications, a contest and a banquet. But in other areas, it may mean one young woman simply needs to speak up and offer her time and enthusiasm to the role.

Dairy Farm Families Partner with Hy-Vee, Lewis Drug and First Bank & Trust to Benefit Feeding South Dakota

For the third year, dairy farmers will invite the public to "Be Our Guest" at a concert at the annual Central Plains Dairy Expo. For a $10 donation to Feeding South Dakota, people will receive a pass to country music artist Phil Vassar's concert on March 26. Donations will be used to purchase dairy foods to stock food banks across the state.

Midwest Dairy Association’s Industry Relations team has announced the availability of a paid internship in Springfield, Illinois for the summer of 2013. Applications are due March 4, 2013.

Missouri’s Governor Nixon Supports Fuel Up to Play 60

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon yesterday signed a proclamation recognizing Fuel Up to Play 60 for its efforts in encouraging students to eat healthy and be active. Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program that encourages students to make positive changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich foods and to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
